We invite you to come and stay for a taste of a secluded French life here in your very own private self-catering Gite nestled within the beautiful undisturbed Limousin countryside. You choose your own pace of life here from one of romantic solitude or exploring daily, the French culture of food and wine, town markets, glorious lakes, historic chateau's and a never-ending variety of walks and drives within what feels like days of old.
We have just the ONE delightful detached two bedroomed Gite for your very own use including your own Private Swimming Pool . The Gite sits in 3 acres of secluded gardens and land for you to walk around and take in the stunning surrounding Limousin countryside. Reids Retreat has all the ingredients for a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

THE GITE
When you enter the 'open plan' Gite into the lounge, you have two large double sofas, soft lighting, English and French TV and a selection of games. You also have the use of 'Google Home' so you can ask what the weather is for your holiday, play music or help to plan your day. Moving on to the dining area with large table capable of seating six people. Carry on through to the kitchen with fitted kitchen cupboards/worktops, double sink, dishwasher, gas oven with four burners, fridge/freezer, microwave, Dolce Gusto coffee machine, kettle and toaster. All kitchen utensils are provided along with sponges, tea towels, washing-up liquid and dishwasher tablets.
The toilet and shower room has a good-sized shower with wash basin and toilet. Toilet rolls and bath towels are provided.
Upstairs, we offer two spacious bedrooms…
Bedroom (1) consists of king size bed, two bedside cabinets (with lamps, clock/alarm and wall plug sockets with 2 usb ports), wardrobe, one large chest of draws, dressing table, hairdryer, full-length mirror, standing fan and window with view of the garden, surrounding hills and trees.
Bedroom (2) consists of double bed, two bedside cabinets (with lamps, clock/alarm and wall plug sockets with 2 usb ports), wardrobe, two chests of draws, dressing table, hairdryer, full-length mirror, standing fan, iron and ironing board, Skylight window. All bedlinen is provided.
THE GROUNDS
The rear of the gite has a private decked area with table, chairs and parasol ideal for your morning coffee and a croissant whilst looking over the garden and fields. From the side entrance of the gite is a wooden pergola, with a picnic table, where you can cook on the stone BBQ and eat at your own leisure. You have exclusive use of the gardens and large private decked SWIMMING POOL (L32' X W16' X D4') open from 09:00am to 21:00pm with sunbeds, parasols and easy seating. The pool is ideally situated to catch the sun from sunrise to sunset and the best far reaching views (pool towels are provided). You can sit back from the pool under another pergola at the rear of the old barn offering dappled shade and soft seating.
We have a POOL HOUSE you can sit in to read, play chess or just relax whilst looking out over the distant views. You will find some informational leaflets of things to do in and around the local area.
In the GAMES ROOM (The Old Barn) you will find darts, table tennis and table football. Badminton, swingball, boules and quoits are within the garden which you can freely walk around as well as the lower field.
FREE BIKE HIRE - You have a choice of 4 bikes available to use. Why not cycle up to the village to the Patisserie for your bread/cakes or a traditional French lunch at the restaurant. If you wish to, you can venture further on the beautiful and quiet lanes that surround La Roche-l’Abeille (Helmets are NOT supplied)
FREE Wi-Fi - Available within the gite, garden and around the pool.
FREE PARKING - Secure gated area directly in front of the Gite.
IN THE AREA
Just a taste of what is nearby:
La-Roche L'Abeille - 1 km walk up to our lovely little village, you will find a post office, little church, a Bar/Restaurant 'Le Vieux Chateau' with its small shop, fresh bread, and delicious cakes, stop for a drink or book in for a traditional French lunch.
Moulin de la Gorce – 3 km (4min drive) a Michelin Star Restaurant (partner of "La Table du Moulin"). Dine here and be served with beautiful local French delights. It truly is a remarkable restaurant to visit (www.moulindelagorce.com).
St Yrieix-la-Perche – 9 km (10min drive) where you will find everything you need, Supermarkets, Shops, Tabacs, Restaurants and much more including a market every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. Lovely church with tours of the tower. Lake with beach, Picnic area, Mini Golf and Boating.
Chateau de Bonneval – 12 km (13min drive) to Coussac Bonneval, this is a lovely Chateau to look around and take in the incredible French history. There’s also Shops, Tabacs and restaurants within the town.
Reynou Zoo – 21 km (17min drive) to Le Vigen. This is a lovely zoo to visit. The visitors’ trail twists through the landscaped parks and woodland for more than five kilometres. A good selection of well-kept animals to be seen.
Espace Hermeline – 25 km (28min drive) to Bussiere Galant is a leisure park with outdoor activities: Mega-zip line, rail bike, mini golf, tree climbing, kayak, tennis, bathing and much more.
Limoges – 32 km (30min drive) Please don't think of Limoges as just an airport destination for you to land at for your holidays. There are lots of things to do and see in Limoges. The Cathedral with botanical gardens, Churches, Parks, Adventure Park, Museums, Shops, Boutiques, Bars, Restaurants and lots more. Be sure to visit the historic centre, where medieval timber-frame houses and old cobbled stoned streets line Rue de la Boucherie. You could take in the sights via the little road train or in one of the little Tuk Tuk's.
Oradour-sur-Glane – 53 km (48min drive) is unique in Europe: The fully preserved ruined village of Oradour-sur-Glane, is known throughout the world for bearing the traces of the massacre of its population. 642 people, including 247 children were shot or burnt alive by a unit of the Waffen SS on June 10, 1944. Only 6 people escaped to tell their emotional story. The village has been left as an honoured memorial ever since and is open to visitors.
