We invite you to come and stay for a taste of French life here in your very own
private self catering Gite, nestled within the beautiful undisturbed Limousin countryside.
You choose your own pace of life here from one of romantic solitude or
exploring daily, the French culture of food & wine, town markets, glorious
lakes, historic chateau's & a never ending variety of walks & drives
within what feels like days of old.
We have just the ONE delightful detached Gite
for your very own use including your own parking area. The Gite sits in 3 acres of secluded gardens & land for you to walk around & take in the stunning surrounding Limousin countryside.
Reids Retreat has all the ingredients for a perfect romantic getaway.

THE
GITE
When you enter the open plan Gite into the lounge, you have
two large double sofas, soft lighting, English & French TV & a selection of games. This leads on to the dining area with large table capable of seating six people.
Carry on through to the kitchen with fitted kitchen cupboards/worktops,
double sink, dishwasher, gas oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, Dolce Gusto coffee machine & toaster. All kitchen utensils are provided along with sponges, tea towels, washing-up liquid & dishwasher tablets.
The toilet & shower room has a good sized shower with wash basin & toilet. Toilet rolls & bath towels are provided.
Upstairs, we offer two spacious bedrooms.
Bedroom (1) consists of king size bed, two bedside cabinets (with lamps, clock/alarm & wall plug sockets), wardrobe, one large chest of draws, dressing
table, full-length mirror, standing fan & window with view of the garden, surrounding hills
& trees.
Bedroom (2) consists of double bed, two bedside cabinets (with lamps, clock/alarm & wall plug sockets), wardrobe, two chest of draws, dressing
table, full-length mirror, standing fan & a Skylight window.
All bedlinen is provided along with
hairdryer, ironing board & iron.
THE GROUNDS
At the rear of the gite is a private decked area with table & chairs ideal for your morning coffee & A croissant whilst looking over the garden & fields.
To the side of the gite is a wooden pergola, with table & chairs, where yo can cook on the BBQ whilst overlooking the garden & views.
You have exclusive use of the large private decked SWIMMING POOL (L32' X W16' X D4') with sunbeds, parasols & easy seating. The pool is ideally
situated to catch the sun from sunrise to sunset & the best far reaching views, whilst also providing privacy.
(pool towels provided).
You can sit back from the pool under another pergola at the rear of the old barn offering dappled shade & soft seating.
THE POOL HOUSE
You can sit in the pool house to read, play chess, listen to music (via Google Home) or just relax while looking out over the pool & distant views. You will find some informational leaflets of things to do & the local area. There is a fridge too, filled with cold drinks & chocolate bars (honesty box).
Ice lollies are available from us at the house.
GAMES ROOM & GARDEN
In the old barn you will find darts, ping-pong & table football.
Badminton, swingball, large jenga, boules & quoits are within the garden.
You can walk around the garden & lower field where you
can sit & take in the far reaching views, watch remarkable sun rises & sun
sets. All outside areas have breath taking views.
Situated where we are with no light pollution, cuddle up under some of
the most amazing star laden sky's & marvel at the milky way directly
above.
FREE BIKE HIRE
We have 4 bikes available for our guests. Why not cycle up to our village in the morning to get lovely fresh
bread & cakes from the Patisserie.
You could also cycle some of the beautiful & quiet lanes
that surround La Roche-l’abeille.

NEAR BY (Just a selected few)
1 km walk up to the little village of La-Roche L'Abeille you will find a lovely little church, a Patisserie to get lovely fresh bread & delicious cakes, a Tabac where you can stop for a drink or book in for lunch/evening meal. There's also "La Table du Moulin" a Michelin star restaurant with great staff & the food is
exquisite.
Moulin de la
Gorce – 3 km (4min drive) a Michelin star restaurant (partner of "La Table du Moulin").
Dine here & be served with beautiful local French delights. It truly is a remarkable place to visit.
St
Yrieix-la-Perche – 9 km (10min
drive) where you will find:-
supermarkets including, Netto, Hyper Casino, Lidl,
Intermarche & Super U.
Bars, Cafes, Tabacs, Restaurants,
Pizzerias, McDonalds.
Chocolatiers, Patisseries,
Boulangeries, Wine Merchants.
Tourist information, Hairdressers,
Banks, Doctors, Dentist, Garages.
Lake (Plan d'Eau
d'Arfeuille) with beach, Picnic area, Mini Golf & Boating.
Public swimming pool & cinema.
There is a market every first &
third Saturday morning.
Chateau de Bonneval
– 12 km (13min drive) to Coussac
Bonneval, this is a lovely Chateau to look around & the well kept grounds. There’s also Shops, Tabacs &
restaurants within the town.
Reynou Zoo – 21 km (17min drive) to Le
Vigen. This is a lovely zoo to visit.
The visitors’ trail twists through the
landscaped parks and woodland for more than five kilometres. A good selection of well kept animals to be seen.
Espace Hermeline –
25 km (28min drive) to
Bussiere Galant is a leisure park with outdoor
activities: Mega-zip line, rail bike, mini golf, tree climbing, kayak, tennis, bathing & much more.
Limoges – 32 km (30min drive)
Please don't think of Limoges as just an airport destination for you to land at for your holidays.
Limoges is Famous for its Porcelain but there's lots to do & see. The Cathedral
with botanical gardens, Churches, Parks, Adventure Park, Museums, Shops, Boutiques,
Bars, Restaurants & lots more. Be sure to visit the historic centre, where medieval
timber-frame houses & old cobbled stoned streets line Rue de la
Boucherie.
You
could take in the sights via the little road train or in one of the little Tuk
Tuk's.
Oradour-sur-Glane
– 53 km (48min drive) is unique in
Europe:
a fully preserved, ruined village that
was the site of the worst Nazi massacre of civilians carried out on French
soil. 642 people, including 247 children, were shot or burnt alive on 10 June
1944 in an unexplained act of barbarity.
The village has been left as a
memorial ever since.

and unfortunately we do NOT accept pets.
Our Gite is open from the 1st of June until the 30th of September.
